Doing Good

Nipun Mehta has done some wonderful work in initiating, alongwith a group of like-minded people, a concept of campaigning Generosity and Giftivism. Majority of us probably would not divulge from embracing such a concept owing to its power. As we all have experienced, the ‘Joy of Giving’ is phenomenal and beyond compare. Including his University Graduation Ceremony address with such a topic is a brilliant idea that can cajole young minds to prefer the W-A-L-K therapy and benefit by it. The profound impact in form of enhancing your self-confidence that the concept of generosity imparts is the one for each one of us to experience. It can be contagious. The current challenging and troubled times of Covid are enabling us to witness this around us - there is so much of ‘social good’ that is being done ranging from contributions to PM Cares Fund to helping provide food to migrant labour. All this is just on a call, either in form of a text message or a campaign or a phone call. This means that we all have that prompt of generosity already prepared to pour out of us, only waiting for a nudge from someone. 

The power of masses is huge, and can certainly be leveraged in ‘Doing Good’. And, doing good need not always be in currency, it could be even with a smile, or a moral support for some. The current crisis, which is being judged to be larger than the world war or any other crisis the mankind has ever faced in a century, has an opportunity to offer to all of us, to let us learn a habit of Generosity and Giftivism, a concept that was introduced to me by Nipun Mehta through Rtn Manikantan.
