Once upon a time, nestled between Senegal and the Atlantic Ocean, there was a beautiful, green country called The Gambia, also known as The Smiling Coast of Africa.
The Gambia was a land of incredible beauty, with lush landscapes and the sparkling River Gambia winding through its heart. The people of The Gambia, known as Gambians, were famous for their warmth, kindness, hospitality, and their ever-present smiles. In a small village by Tujereng Beach, there lived a young girl child named Joko. She dreamed of making her country even greener and more beautiful. Joko and her brother Alkapon were inspired by their father’s best friend, Jubril, who told them stories of the olden days when the Tujereng forests were thicker and the wildlife was abundant. Every day after school, Joko and her friends would wander through the village, collecting cashew nuts, fallen mangoes, and seeds from the majestic baobab trees, towering mahoganies, and vibrant flamboyant trees.
She planted these seeds in small pots, nurturing them with care and love. The villagers watched with curiosity and admiration as Joko’s tiny nursery began to flourish, just like the stories Jubril had told. Her dedication was contagious, and soon others joined her. Children and elders alike began planting trees in their gardens and along the village pathways. The village, once a patchwork of fields and homes, began transforming into a lush, green oasis.
One day, as Joko and her friends were planting mangrove seedlings by the Tujereng riverbank, a group of tourists passed by. They were amazed by the village’s greenery and the joyful faces of the people. The tourists were captivated, not just by the beauty of the land but by the harmony between the villagers and their environment. News of the village’s transformation spread far and wide, and more visitors came to see the Green Paradise of Tujereng Village. They named it "The Doing Good Farm," because only kindness and a passion for environmental preservation could lead to such a movement of small people doing great things.
The influx of visitors brought prosperity to the small village. The locals started small businesses like selling cashew nuts, making fresh fruit juice, crafting handmade goods, and offering eco-cultural tours of their beautiful landscapes. Joko’s dream had blossomed beyond her wildest hopes. Her message continued to inspire people of all ages to develop the habit of eco-tourism and environmental preservation. Many children and youths joined the Doing Good Movement, and to this day, Jubril and his Doing Good family still live in Downtown Tujereng Village, welcoming more visitors. Her village became a symbol of hope and sustainability, showing that with a little effort and a lot of heart, a community could create a thriving, green environment.
The Gambia, with its lush greenery and smiling people, became known far and wide as the true “Smiling Coast of Africa.”And so, Joko’s simple act of planting seeds grew into a movement that brought happiness, prosperity, and a deep connection to nature to her beloved homeland.
MORAL: The Gambia flourished, its green landscapes and joyful people continued to greet every visitor with the warmth of the African sun and the promise of a brighter, greener future. Joko, Jubril, Alkapon, and Binta created their own happiness, regardless of any hardships.
We hope you have enjoyed this eco-friendly story. Now, it’s your turn to visit the physical location. Remember these habits, plant a tree in remembrance of the Doing Good Farm, and continue doing good for the betterment and benefit of our mankind and environment.
Thank you.
