Doing IT Even When You Don't Feel Like IT

Doing IT Even When You Don't Feel Like IT

IT can be ANYTHING!

IT is DIFFERENT for EVERYONE.

There are things that we put off, delay and procrastinate – when doing them would be faster than fretting about it. Starting and putting it in motion allows you to move, to get the momentum you need to get it done.

Now, everyone has their hard. Everyone has something that is more difficult than other things. The more that I think about this and ask why that is the more clarity I have on just this topic.

Why is going to the gym easier for some than others? They have built the habit of going to the gym. It is a reflex for them to go to the gym. It’s engrained and part of who they are. To do something else or to not go to the gym would be more difficult than going.

This goes for diet, reading, personal development, business/work tasks. To some they are more of a default than others. Which begs the question, how does one create these habits? How do you start doing something when you don’t want to do it. It could honestly be anything.

There are going to be tricks you’ll need to play on your brain at first. Triggering the action you want to take. Food, exercise, work, being present with your family. You’ll need to play games with yourself to make it work.

Removing all the bad food from your house so that you don’t eat it. Scheduling exercise and gym sessions or getting a buddy to go with you. Putting your phone in the other room so that you can be present with everyone. Whatever the trick is, you just have to figure that out for yourself and put yourself in a position to succeed.

The other thing that I’ve found is that adding multiple things at once can be difficult and challenging. So you have two choices. Either be disciplined and pick a handful 3-5 that you can do each day and just knock it off your list. Then keep doing these same things until they become a habit, which is about 70 days.

After that 70 days, you can start to add in other things you’d like to have on your routine. Now, you can’t miss a day. You can’t be intermittent with doing the task. It must become automatic for you. This is how you’ll be able to take action without hesitation.

Now, this is a work in progress for me. This is what I’ve found to work. Adding in pieces slowly. Making them part of my routine. Stacking piece by piece by piece until I have everything put together.

No matter what it is, or what mountain you’re looking to climb, it is possible. It’s now up to your decisions, your choices as to which way you decide to go. Which path you decide to take. Habits stick with us for life and that is pretty cool, so choose wisely.
