Doing a charity race on my 50th birthday weekend - why?!
On Sunday 25th February I will be running in London for Cancer Research UK.
It's my 50th birthday weekend and instead of partying I am doing something I actually don't enjoy.
Why you may ask? Why on earth would you put yourself through that, especially when it clashes with a significant birthday?
Well, my dad has recently been through cancer treatment so I saw first hand how horrible it is and how it affects everyone around the person diagnosed. To say it was the most stressful period of our lives was an understatement.
Many of my friends have lost loved ones to cancer in the last 12 months and seeing the pain this cruel disease causes to so many has made the decision a no brainer for me. I might be going out of my comfort zone, but it is for such a worthwhile cause. 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.?
If you have read this far well done. Please, if you can, add a donation here https://www.winterrun.co.uk/s/40572/52505.
I really am grateful and thank you for supporting me!
