The question so many people never ask is; “How do you do business in the God’s economy?” With the current limitations and struggles a lot of businesses are faced with today, as they operate in the failing global economy, there is a need to explore the rarely talked about alternative, which is the God’s economy.
In 2010, while practicing as a technology specialist, I got an idea to start a training company in specialist IT courses in Lagos. The IT training sector in Lagos was highly competitive at that time (and it still is).
I contacted two of my friends who were top specialists in the industry and they agreed to be my partners. The first thing we needed to start up was a venue, and after going round Lagos in search of a suitable location, a common friend who had a strategically positioned property agreed to give us one of his classroom for a discounted price of 1million naira annually. This class had no computers (which was very important), and also we knew that to get started, we will need more than a classroom.
As partners, we agreed that each one of us will contribute 1 million naira each for the initial startup phase. Well, the truth was that I personally did not have a million naira readily available; the only way I could work on raising that money was to sell my BMW car (which was a gift from my Dad), I was in a dilemma. I was not sure if that was the right decision to take.
One night I got a clear message while praying, and the message was that: “I was going to get the building for the training for free, and I did not have to sell my car”. This was how I started learning how the God Economy worked. I decided to share this message with my partners in our scheduled weekly meet up, and they laughed at me saying, “Chief don’t you know that you need money to make money?”
The truth is that they were right, because that is how the world’s economy works.
I decided to operate under a different economy so I took action based on the clear message I got. I started running adverts for our trainings in the Guardian Newspaper (with the confidence that the venue was already settled).
By the 3rd week (after I got the message), I got a call from an individual who saw one of our adverts in the dailies. He simply asked if we were interested in another property to do our trainings (this is because he assumed we currently had a training facility, since we were advertising our trainings for prospective students). I told him it was something we could consider, and he gave us directions to a property to look at on the Mainland (in Lagos). He concluded that if we were interested, we should give him a call so we could reach an agreement. This was a strange call, but something inside of me was at peace; I knew that this was the answer I was expecting.
The next morning by 9am, my business partner and I cautiously (since we were not sure what to expect) located the property, it was a in a good location, very close to the university of Lagos. The property had not been used for the past 5 months. It was a duplex building, with a well-equipped reception space; it also had 3 rooms and a large computer room with over 12 computers. All the rooms had air conditioners with all the right furniture in place. It also had a standby generator which only needed servicing due to months of inactivity.
Although this facility had all we wanted, my partner presumed it was going to be expensive to rent, and it might not be right for us at that early stage of our business.
We contacted the unidentified caller and had a scheduled conference call between him, 2 partners of his and myself and my team. I realized that they were all top IT professionals and had day jobs in different recognized companies. Now, what they collectively proposed to us blew my mind and it formed the foundation for my understanding of how doing business in the God’s economy really works.
They told me they did not want any upfront payment; what they wanted was a profit sharing arrangement. To cut the long story short, by the next 2 days (which was on a Saturday) we had our first training in the facility. This was how we got an over 10 million naira facility, handed over to us without any payment.
The big lesson I learnt from this was that, “We are limited when we operate under the world’s economy”. Looking back, I cannot help but imagine what would have happened if I had sold my car, only for the business to fail after some months? What would have been the outcome if I had gone about it the way everyone wanted me to go about it? But by understanding and applying the principles of the God’s economy, a process for wealth transfer was initiated.
Today, a lot of business owners are complaining about how the economy is taking a toll on their once profitable ventures. As you hope that the current economy will improve, you need to consider a rarely talked about, but highly effective alternative; you can start today by switching and operating your businesses and careers under the God’s economy.
So, what is this economy like?
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WORLD ECONOMY AND THE GOD ECONOMY
The world economy is ruled by fear. This can be best illustrated using the caterpillar stage of a butterfly’s life-cycle. The caterpillar is slow and limited in movement; until it buds into a butterfly, where it can fly around in its beauty.
When we operate in the caterpillar stage, we cannot help but have a struggle/survival mindset. If you watch a butterfly, you will observe that it freely flies without limitations and restrictions. This is what happens when we operate in the God’s economy. In the God economy, you will need to learn how to its laws and operate under its culture (dominating mindset) in order for your life, career and business to excel.
No Matter the Situation, There Is Still Hope When You Switch to God’s Economy.
