Doing An Audit of Your Website.

Doing An Audit of Your Website.

Nothing says unprofessional than spelling and grammatical mistakes, so when was the last time you did an audit on your website?

Maybe I’m just a bit of a stickler for grammar and spelling, but I find nothing more jarring than reading through someone’s blog and finding mistakes jumping out at me.

It says that the writer needs to take the time to edit the article. Perhaps it was written directly in the post section of the website and published. If so, that's a glaring example of someone rushing to get something out.

Perhaps they don’t think anyone will read it??

Don’t get me wrong; an odd mistake has slipped through my editing and getting into the final copy. However, I do another read-through once published to ensure it looks and reads well.

With so many editing sites to help, there is no excuse for tardiness around checking for mistakes. My favourite is Grammarly. It has all the whistles and bells and is the most accurate I’ve come across.

But what about your whole website? How is it looking right now, and should you do an audit? A website audit is where you go through each page. Okay, you can leave out the privacy and terms and conditions pages, but all the others should get an eagle-eyed survey of the content.

Is it current? Does it reflect your business values and offers? Are the images fresh, or do they need updating? And, how is the grammar?

Set aside time each day to go through each page. If you break it up, you won’t feel so overwhelmed and will be able to see and make any changes easily.

Your website is your calling card. It needs to be up-to-date, professional and reflect your business.

If someone else built your website, still do the audit and record what you want to be corrected, then send it through to the web builder.
