DoHS Cabinet Secretary Dr. Cynthia Persily delivered a keynote address at the 2024 National Association of Social Worker (NASW) WV Chapter Spring Social Work Conference.
In her address, Dr. Persily provided an overview of the changes to the former DHHR that took place January 1, 2024, and were implemented as a result of HB 2006. She reviewed the priorities for DoHS including the need for optimizing existing services such as child welfare, substance use disorder programs, and behavioral health services through continuous quality improvement efforts. She stressed the significance of strong leadership, advocating for cohesive collaboration across bureaus and providers, while setting clear expectations and encouraging innovation and effective communication within the Department.
“Through DoHS’s commitment to delivering responsive services and promoting well-being in West Virginia, the Department is able to enhance the lives of vulnerable populations and ensure all West Virginians receive the support and care they deserve,” said Dr. Persily.?
The conference was held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center and was attended live and virtually by over 300 participants.??
