Dog Hair & Beautiful Days
I'm covered in dog hair and lounging on the porch at my dear friend Lori's house. She's away for a long weekend and I am watching her pups while she's gone. It's a beautiful sparkle-blue day after a quick shower this morning. There are hummingbirds and bluebirds about. And if they aren't actual bluebirds, they are birds that are blue. They don't care what we call them, after all.
All this is to say that I am taking the afternoon to give my mind some time to wander. Wandering is when the ideas come. I find that I spend most of my time writing and working on assignments and projects and not enough time opening my thoughts to innovations and new things. Concrete tasks, no matter if they are motivational or mundane, are the easy part of work because you know what finished looks like. Take washing dishes, for instance. Dirty plates become clean plates. But clearing away all the busy-busy tasks and just letting something new enter my brain? And then possibly acting on it? The unfamiliar can be intimidating.
But ... I do have to give myself some credit. I started this weekly newsletter this year, and also the Food and Flower newsletter, too. Which, I might add, has been an enjoyable experience. In fact, I just released a new edition today. It's got C-BITEs, Colsen Fire Pits, an opportunity for getting an American Meadows gift code by donating to KidsGardening.org and ... did you know this past week has been International Compost Awareness Week? You can read all about those HERE. So yes, some of my "Hmmm, let's see if I can do this" ideas have come to fruition.
Well, if I don't get to it, new ideas won't be coming my way. Have a great weekend, everybody. And Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate.

I have soil on my apartment on my floor, because I've been busy and coming up with ideas (too). <-- Please don't tell anyone about the soil. ;)
