Does your "Why" make you cry?

September 7th started out like any other day! I can remember waking up with excitement and thanking God for all the blessings in my life. Just three months prior to this day, God put such an awesome gift in my lap...a gift that was going to change my entire life! It was my choice to accept this gift. It was my choice to believe that I deserved what was happening to me. Not just all the physical changes, but the slow growing passion to help others receive the same gift and the chance to regain their quality of life as well.

That afternoon I received the phone call that would change my life forever. It was my daughter on the other end, crying!! She broke the devastating news that my sweet grandbaby, Emery, was gone. At that moment my heart shattered into a million pieces and will always remain broken! Emery was 12 weeks old and so very special to me and our entire family.

Saying goodbye to my sweet Emery was something I will never ever forget. I can still smell the gorgeous pink and red roses that covered her tiny little body. I bent down to kiss her cheek for the very last time and whispered in her ear, "Send Grandma Butterflies so I know you are okay and I am going to go home and help so many people!"

From that day forward, Emery has been my "WHY!" I knew I needed to make her a part of ME... I knew she had to be front and center so that I could navigate my days, weeks and years without her. I went to court and legally took her name as my middle name. So, every time I look at, sign, hear or speak my name, there's my "WHY!" I have 3 memorial tattoos that mean the world to me and give me a sense of peace. They remind me of Emery, every day!

My passion and purpose is to help others live their best life!! My "Why" never got the chance to call me Grandma but I will spend my days making sure that HER name is never ever forgotten!!!
