Does Your Company Give You the Time for Community Service?
Today I had the privilege of visiting my local daycare center to participate in their Walk-4-CHOC event. Yes, I am the Sandtrooper... https://www.chocwalk.org is where you can find the information on the main fundraising charity which they based their event off of. The purpose is to raise funds for health care programs, education and research for Southern California’s kids.
Each of the classes at the daycare had decorated their doors in a Star Wars theme and parents donated to their favorite door to determine the "winner". Today was the main event where the kids traversed a Star Wars themed obstacle course as a part of their "walk". This was end-capped by a visit from a friendly Sandtrooper (Myself) and I can tell you that the smiles were worth it.
I was so happy and honored to show my appreciation to these young leaders who are raising awareness for a cause that matters. This was made possible by an awesome perk provided by my employer, Ascentis. I am so proud that I work for a company that values its employees getting out into the community and making a difference. I may not have ran a marathon myself, but the impact I was able to make today on these young lives is worth its weight in gold.
If you are pondering what work-life-balance looks like; this is work making life as awesome as it can be. When the culture of a company allows for you to make an impact in the world around you, it makes being part of that team all the more outstanding. My bucket is off to you Ascentis, thanks for giving me the time to give back!
