Does your circle ?? support your future?

Let's look at the correlation between your values, your network and your dreams.
We have friends that go to the gym ?????♂? friends that have children the same age ???? friends that like the things we like ???? and friends that we can talk to when we need support with our careers ???
We naturally have our chosen people who nourish us in different areas.
And vice versa.
We cannot be expected to be everything to someone, just as we cannot expect them to be everything to us.
Over time we form strong bonds and relationships with people. Some of these relationships evolve and some stay the same.
But what happens when you want to grow? ??
Could it be possible that your circle is unknowingly keeping you small?
Exercise:
Lets look at what means the most to you ??
- ??? Write down your top 10-15 most important values and pillars in your life.
Here's an example:
Kids, Personal Growth, Writing, Fun & laughter, Spiritual growth, Entrepreneurship, Running, Renovations, Kindness....
Let’s look at who you spend time with ??
- ??? Now write down your top 10-15 friends that you spend the most amount of time with.
Let’s put them together ????????????
- ??? Connect your circle with the things that mean the most to you to show how they support your values and interests.
Here’s an example:
You will see that this example has highlighted that although this person has amazing friends that bring them joy and kindness, they have a great network of support for the kids and they share a lot of the same interests, they don’t seem to have the right people in place for personal or professional growth.
Here:
Are there gaps in your circle?
If you have noticed a gap, what could you do about this?
Lets start with your time ?
You might be spending a huge amount of time with Friend B but on your list of things that are important to you, they do not tick many of the boxes.
Equally, Friend C seems to really add value to your life in the areas that you want to grow but you proportionately don’t spend enough time with them.
Could you be spending less time with those that might not be on the same path as you and more time with those that are already there?
It’s never easy to pull back from great friends but to propel your self forward you have to manage your time and energy wisely.
Now let’s fill the gaps ??
Your precious time is now divided correctly between your circle but there are still gaps in the areas that you deem to be valuable.
This is where you need to become open and proactive.
Start exploring ????
You might join a networking group of fantastic entrepreneurs or join a parent and baby group to meet other parents that can relate to the same stage of life you’re experiencing.
With a little time, patience and perseverance you will find your tribe.
Growth comes from stepping outside of safety and familiarity and into the unknown. It's a leap of faith that is cushioned by the awareness of your values and what is important to your future ?
Don't feel like you have to do everything alone. No one great ever achieved anything without support and no one successful ever enjoyed it without great people to share it with.
Lets enrich the world together! ??

3 年This is exactly what I am going through now Rebecca Hollis and I was wondering to write a post about it too! ?? I've recently started to spend more time on LinkedIn, and I am trying to minimize my time on Facebook. I noticed that after scrolling through FB, I become negative and stressed meanwhile connecting with people on LinkedIn energizes me and gives me strength and motivation to continue on my way of self-development ??

3 年Rebecca Hollis I really enjoyed reading this as it had such a fresh perspective! I’m going to give this some thought as I’ve definitely spent a lot of time on my values over the last year but not as consciously thought of how they connect to the people I surround myself with. Fascinating. ????

3 年Love this! Took me a long time to learn how to prioritize people in my life and, most importantly, how to filter some of the relationships out. I did realize I am not left with so many friends anymore but the ones I do have around me, matter! Great post, Rebecca!
