Gary Vaynerchuk says every business is a media business and he is right to some extent.
Even if you are in the steel industry or selling grease, if you have a newsletter going out to a large audience, your brand is very much in control.
When Whatsapp introduced Broadcast groups, we all wondered what they were upto.
Now, we have an answer.
It's called Whatsapp Newsletter.
And its a brilliant idea.
Just like LinkedIn Newsletter and Substack, you can have your own newsletter on Whatsapp, when it gets released.
In the olden days, you had to rely on mainstream media to convey your message to the public.
Now, you can do it though newsletters.
For example, every day I publish the Metamorphosis newsletter which goes out to 7000 readers on LinkedIn, 65,000 readers on FB Group, 100,000 readers on FB pages, 10,000 readers on Meetup and 2000 readers on Whatsapp.
So, one piece of content that I write everyday is going out to 184,000 people in the UAE.
Now, imagine buying ads to get 184,000 clicks on a daily basis.
The average cpc on FB is $0.95, meaning each post is valued at $174,800.
In reality its only costing me one coffee and 5 mins of typing to create each post.
Yes, a bit of brain power is involved
But as I have been doing this for the last 5 years, its kind of habitual.
So, the take away is, you need a newsletter to survive in the world of Generative AI, Metaverse and Blockchain.

2 年I don't agree with Whatsapp on the newsletter play that they have planned. But it could just be me. I'm addicted to high quality newsletter being delivered to my inbox daily or weekly and I take time out in the day to read it. But Whatsapp, due to it's inherent design has too many communication messages (personal & professional) and will not command dedicated attention that a proper newsletter needs. I'm looking forward to see this metamorphosis of WhatsApp though!
