You must have heard about Facebook Messenger Bots or any other Chat Bots by now and you must also have questions. The main one probably being, do I need one for my business or is this just yet another techie buzzword I can ignore?

Well, here are some answers for you, so read on.

What’s a Messenger Bot?

A Facebook Messenger Bot is an automatic way to chat with people when they message your Facebook business page. A bot can answer questions, send push notifications, sell products, tell stories, jokes, and much, much more. It’s a new and fantastic way to engage your audience and nurture prospects.

There are 1.2 billion people sending 2 billion messages a month on Messenger. Yes, you read that right. It’s expressed in billions!

You can send your followers push notifications that automatically pop up on their phones, just like Messenger alerts do. You can use this to talk to them, send them announcements, content, and more.

How do I get followers on Messenger?

Simple; create great content and distribute it, then ask people to follow your bot.

On Messenger you would create conversations, pre-written by you, between your bot and your audience.

Your audience starts by opting in using a button that says “Get Started” (they can easily opt out by typing “Stop” or “Unsubscribe”).

Then your bot says something, your audience responds by tapping a button, and then your bot responds, and so on and so forth.

These chats can be as long or as short as you want and you can have as many as you want too.

They can be about whatever suits your business persona. You can share them via push notifications or using a special link on social media, your blog, email, etc.

To promote your bot you should start by changing the button on your Facebook business page to “Send Message”, add a button on your website that links to your bot, share a video about your bot on social media.

So to answer the question at the top… Yes, your business does need a Messenger Bot, and now you know why.
