Does your Business have a Content Marketing Plan? It should! + FREE Content Calendar Template
Good Morning Readers, if I had a dollar ?? for every time I heard this sentence...
?“I know I need content, but no one will tell me exactly what to create, when and where to get the results!” .....
If this resonates with you, or it all seems too hard then read on.
You know that content marketing works
Let me start by asking you a few questions:
Now imagine: what if you had a precise digital content marketing plan
You’d know exactly what pieces of content to develop and which ones to prioritise, including the channels to use to consistently pique your customers’ interest and keep them engaged. With it, you’d also be able to execute, manage and measure all of your content marketing results.
Sounds good, right?
It’s also very possible.
How to build an effective content marketing plan
1. Make sure you have a digital marketing strategy in place.
Without it, you are building your dream house, without architectural plans. Without plans, you will lack the roadmap and I know that your content won't be successful.
2. Assess and audit your current content .
Have you committed to content marketing in the past? Perhaps some content was effective, and some was not. Now is a good time to assess this and note down which videos, blogs, photos, eBooks etc resonated with your audience and earned you some results?
PS. If you haven't done content marketing before, then that's fine too ??. Skip this step and move to #3.
3. Identify the best content types and channels .
If you haven't done content marketing before, then your digital marketing strategy, Step 1, will outline this for you. It is super important that you plan your content in a structured way based on the marketing funnel, and matched to your target audience.
4. Set the budget and resources.
Part of creating a content marketing plan involves determining the budget allotted to producing each piece of content

5. Develop a content calendar .
This is where you specify the who, what, where and why of your content strategy. With a content calendar, you’ll be able to track the status of every content piece – from the production phase to the distribution and promotion stages.
