If you didn’t do a pushup properly in the Army, it wouldn’t count. Instead, you might hear a count that was something similar to “1, 2, 3, 3, 3, straighten your back, 3, there you go, 4, 5, 5, straighten your back,” and so on.
It wasn’t all about quantity for the sake of quantity — it was about having the right form. It was about doing things right, because that was the only way that progress could be achieved and success truly measured.
As you go about your day, ask yourself if you’re cheating on form to hit your numbers, and hoping that no one notices — or if you’re being mindful and intentional, because you know in the long run that that’s how you can truly make everything count.
