Does Unconditional love even exist?

Does Unconditional love even exist?

Guys please understand first that whoever loves you, loves you for their self interest. Let me start with the most so called selfless love, which is also termed as UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. They say that I love you and I care for you, in return I don't want anything. I care for you just because your happiness means a lot for me. But its not true. I call these sort of things dishonesty or a case of utter disguise. They love you simply because they feel happiness in it. They achieve their self satisfaction so they do it. There's not any relationship in this world in which love is unconditional.

Even people call motherly love the purest of all but I find something in it also. Here I want to tell you a story of Akbar and Birbal. When asked a question of unconditional love, Birbal said Sir, "there is nothing called unconditional love even between mother and child". Akbar said " Prove it to me". Therefore, Birbal called for a mother monkey and her baby monkey. Both were put in a jar of enough capacity and started pouring water from above. As water level started increasing in the jar, mother monkey saved her baby by lifting him. She saved him for a long time. But the time came when water level reached her nose she without thinking a second put her child on the ground in jar & stood upon it. The conclusion is obvious. This story somewhat relates to human behavior as well.

But if we start comparing based on this criteria then life will be worse. Amongst every love in the world, we can say mothers love is best unconditional love. Guys please try to understand what I say as its some out of the track thinking but I tried to be honest. Think of friends now. We meet a lot of people everyday. We make friends, we love them, take care of them and we move on. We also live together in hostels and PGs, share good moments, study together help each other in studies etc but we cannot love them unconditionally. We always expect something in back.

We call some people our "Best Friends". Childhood friends stay in our hearts forever. No matter how far we go from each other, the memories of the childhood spent together are too precious to forget. Irrespective of what we become in the future, we always see our best friends as treated them in our childhood. But there are some conditions to follow. We do expect them to like us the way we like them.

Now take for example your spouse: The most conditional love in the history of mankind. We expect them to love us. There! first condition.we can't love without getting it back. We expect them to treat us as their friend. We expect their families to like us since we are duty bound. We expect gifts, as we have given them. Expectations related to acceptance of our self is always there. We expect them to understand our dreams, passion and nature. The list is endless.

Now take siblings: I want to shower my brother with gifts and his bride too so that it is easier for them to lead their lives. Why do I feel like a stranger to my own brother in my own house? The same goes with your sister. Once she is married to someone and leaves home the love becomes totally conditional based on her husband's wishes only. Expect your brother/sister to prioritise you over your wife! Conditional? Expect to accept their gifts knowing that they are newly married and want some space to bond and engage with each other. Why the meddling?

Finally coming to parents: The most controversial one for this discussion. Everything a parent does is for the betterment of their child's future. They always planning and scheming on how to get this thing(study for exam, put a time limit on studies or add almonds in their diet, add green leaves in the food to increase the nutrition) done from this kid. We should understand that unconditional love means affection given to your children without expecting anything. Our parents shower us with their love and care but is it truly unconditional after all ?

We have seen many instances where mothers know what their child wants and keep a sandwich in their bags knowing that their child will feel hungry as he didn't have breakfast; fathers recharge their son's mobile phone without asking why or when he spend 5GB data in 3 days; give life advices; one parent sides with the child when the other parent is not agreeing. This is true love. But is it unconditional? This is a matter of great debate, but we can conclude that parent's love is the best unconditional love, because even the children when they grow up don't look after the parents at all, even then the parents would never stop loving their children.
