Does top management support really matter for data mining/data science projects? Top management support refers to the specific, observable behaviors that top managers demonstrate during an information systems project. For example, do top managers allocate financial and human resources for the project? Can the success of data mining projects be linked back to this support from top managers?
Previous literature has suggested that top management support and their involvement in information systems projects is a critical success factor. In ERP projects specifically, this support and oversight is definitely necessary. However, we do not yet know if this support is necessary for data mining/data science related projects in particular.
A survey is available for any person who works as a data scientist or data mining professional (since these often refer to the same profession!) - to chime in and help shape this research. Please share this if you know someone who would be willing to participate in this 5-10 minute survey.
Answers will be shared via KDNuggets.com, and here on LinkedIn by the end of this year.
