Does speed matter?
When it comes to the cost of internal transfers for most businesses it can be a necessary evil. On one hand there is a degree of inefficient stock management that leads to the requirement of express delivery between interstate warehouses to facilitate a customers order. However, many companies I've dealt with have regular & scheduled delivery days to replenish each states stock holdings. In some cases, I've seen as much as $500,000 per annum being spent on internal replenishment.
There are some fantastic carriers out there that provide both an express & general service for bulk movements around the country. The truth of the matter is that the difference in service to short-haul locations is only between 1-2 transit days more, whereas the reduction in cost to use those services can be as much as 10-20%.
My recommendation for anyone looking to review that part of their business is to consider the following carriers - Bluestar, Hi-Trans, Aussie Fast, Northline or Sadleirs who all provide a great express & general offering.

Happy saving!
