Does Social Media Even Work For Realtors?
I recently spoke with a realtor in my focus group and she stated that doing SM was useless as in her opinion it didn’t produce any true leads for her. Which is what she ultimately wants.
I completely understand as I felt the same way in my businesses. Social Media posting is time consuming and yes, maybe even a bit thankless. I mean who knows if anyone even sees it. After all, some posts might only have a 15 minute life span.
But, here’s the thing. Todays world revolves around social media. There are currently 250 million people on Facebook alone, People are looking on social media all the time FOR INFORMATION. That’s the key thing. You may have just thought that you could sign up on the media sites, add a couple of posts (like happy sweatpants day) then just let it go so you could focus more on your clients. You think, well I’m shown on every platform so I’m good.
But that’s not true. The first place that home buyers go is the internet. Tirelessly researching & searching for their dream home. Let’s say a potential customer looks on the internet, finds a home possibility and then finds a handful of possible agents to help them. How are they going to decide which agent to go with? They are likely going to google you and check out your what....? Your social media sites of course. And here’s the thing, you don’t know which media channel they will look at. It’s simply up to what they prefer or are more familiar with.

Therefore you will want to keep your sites interesting, relevant & up to date plus be on more than one site. If you have lot’s of UP TO DATE info about sales, your local area, statistics etc. they will be more likely to choose you based on what they are seeing. Also, you can certainly keep your sites to just a few but with more quality. Rather than trying to cover all bases but not keeping up.
