Yesterday there was a post from a student that touched many strings at once.
It took me to flashback. I wanted to say so much but time was a constraint as I was headed to conduct a class.
Whether a throughout Rank holder sure to secure a job through campus placements?
There are umpteen factors that drive your selection during any interviews & recruitment including the campus interviews.
- Quality of your cover letter & resume
- Presentation of skills
- Hiring criteria of the organization
- Domain for which the org is hiring
- your experience & articleship
- Communication abilities of the candidate
- Requirements of the org & your skills (mapping)
- Your approach, confidence & conviction
- many others
Back in March 2003, I had participated at Mumbai Campus selections. Many of my friends were along.
We all were excited about this whole process & looking forward to seeing the shortlisted names.
There used to be a handful of companies hiring during Campus recruitment those times & it was a new initiative by ICAI.
Each time we saw the shortlisted name, it brought surprises.
Many of my friends & others who were rank holders were barely shortlisted.
Few others who were, could not crack the interviews.
I consider myself fortunate that, I was selected in a few & got an offer too.
So all the overconfidence quickly vanished. People geared up to expand their search and depend on other ways of finding jobs.
I have heard similar stories from many of my juniors and students since then.
Many who cleared in first attempts were not even shortlisted while others who took few attempts were offered the jobs.
So instead of analyzing the trends of how org is hiring, let's focus on how we can rise beyond this gamut and mirage of attempts & ranks.
Let's focus more on the mapping of skills & the requirement part.
Let's focus on how we can highlight our strengths & experience so that we can get the best out of this whole process
Focus on writing a professional trendy CV and prepare well to answer with conviction
Focus on restoring self after facing a rejection
Quickly coping up with failure & taking lessons to effectively perform in the opportunities ahead.
"Surity" is a relative term. Directly proportional to your preparation & confidence.
In our kind of exams when we are not sure about the results until they are on papers, how do you the process or criteria based on which companies are hiring CAs will be simple to understand?
All of you are being hired as future managers & with expectations of value addition.
Many of you would soon be leading the Finance & other functions of the large corporations so consider all these aspects & prepare yourselves accordingly.
Once you are convinced about yourselves, nothing can stop you from reaching your goals whether your first milestone is reached through campus placements or any other means.

4 年Just a thought maam Economy in 2003 was different than it is today... Just recently completed Gmcs training We were told during Gmcs sessions that for being shortlisted also the criteria today is the number of attempts. Forget about the interview here the main problem lies is that how will we even get an opportunity to represent ourselves?
