Does Quality Control = BIM?
Many organisations within the construction industry are struggling with BIM and all that it brings.
Some organisations have trained some of their staff in the new skills and processes that they need to adopt but Very Very few have changed their overall company!!
In my opinion this is the key problem to date with the whole industry, without changing your whole organisation you will never reap the savings that can be made from implementing BIM as best practice.
Everyone seems to accept BIM as a method of standardisation with good structures and processes.
Cost of training, changes to staff processes, loss of control on existing jobs, confusion from customers on what they want delivered all add up to indecision in regards to change.
Are we all not over complicating these changes??
What is being asked for?
Better structured data
Checking the digital information and re-checking. – Before going to site!!
- Share this information with all parties.
- Making sure all parties have the latest data, that can easily be viewed everywhere, anytime.
- Agreeing what information is required by the client and when.
- Overall cutting down mistakes, prior to build, during build, and finally at hand over.
This is what all organisations strive for-: ‘Quality Control’.
I am sure organisations would suggest ‘Quality Control’ as an essential vision for their company’s development.
“So Quality Control does equal BIM”
“Embrace and change for the future”
This should be the case for both BIM and Non BIM mandated projects.
Keep it simple but don’t get left behind.
If we can be of help please get in touch.
