With the rise in the social media platforms , accessible cheap plans of internet , affordable by most of the population , unless the one who is living under the rock -the Para social interactions have increased.
The para social interaction is a one way communication, in which generally one person interacts with the other person -mostly a celebrity , politician , sportsperson etc. and gets dillusioned that celeb/ movie star or that famous person is a real friend or known.
Have you ever thought why celebs / sports stars / politicians etc. have to be present on almost all famous social media platforms. The reason is they want to interact with almost all the people , they want that general public must follow them , in this competitive environment, each wants to be heard , each wants to be relevant, each wants to be remembered in the very short memory of people - so one has to be vocal about most of the issues so that people start interacting . Either you will agree or disagree , either you will like or dislike but the interaction will be there.
These celebs have millions of followers , let say a celeb Alex ( Fictional name ) has 50 million followers on Twitter and one fine day Alex posted a few lines - and the reactions and replies start pouring in , within few hours the tweet gets retweeted or gets replied 100K times. Do you think that Alex is going to read your reply :) or reply you back ( Except once in a blue moon ). Mostly No , because Alex is not there to read or want to know your opinion - Alex is paid for that or Alex has shared a personal opinion or want to build an image or Alex is working on some Agenda , they want YOUR attention - and the reader replies , thinking that Alex will read. This is the beginning of para social interactions, where the fan follower will keep replying , and following the celeb , but hardly gets a single reply in decades.

The more you like the celeb , the more you start feeling that you know the celeb personally. You will start liking all videos , songs, movies , sports , speeches of that celeb religiously. That's the reason you see lakhs of retweets , thousands of replies and only countable on fingers replies , if any. The fan follower start thinking that he knows most about the celeb.
These kind of persons are generally as per research have low self esteem. By replying to these celebs they tend to elevate it. It gives them a personal satisfaction that - Wow ! we talked to the celeb , We replied . :) These PSI conversations help such people to live in dreams , thinking that they actually know the celeb , however in reality they know ZERO about them . These PSI interactions are on rise , as evident through social media platforms.
Its good or bad , again depends on the perception. Understanding that PSI is a foolish act can only help , if one can't understand -the person shall continue and remain to live in a world of own virtual false facts. Its hard to get isolated in world, the present social media eco system is such that it makes the fan follower crawl towards it. A tough nut to break , but possible.
Have you ever wondered why people consider Byomkesh Bakshi, Sherlock Holmes as detective legends , however in reality they never took a birth. Its fun to learn.
