I recently watched Dara O'Briain's documentary, Wonders of the Sun.

??Spoiler Alert!???

The sun is eventually going to fry the earth. Not for around a billion years and I very much doubt I'll be here to see it happen, but it got me thinking. Does it matter?

Does it matter that:

??The nail polish on the middle finger of my left had a tiny chip in it,

??I didn’t land the big deal my previous company wanted me to,

??I didn't achieve my goals from 5?years ago, but I've achieved other things I never even?dreamed of?

The answer, for me now, is no. None of it mattered. It did at the time though.

I've suffered with my mental health in the past and these were some of the things that tipped me over the edge. I know, crazy, right?

Occasionally, I have bad days, but these are very rare now. It wasn't all that long ago that the good ones were rare, so I thank my lucky stars and suns for how far I've come on my journey.

I’ve spent years stressed, anxious or depressed with a few happy days in between. When I look back at the reasons I have to wonder again, did it matter? The triggers for my poor mental health are no longer in my life, thankfully. Because I’ve worked on myself a lot over the years; in particular my mental health, I now realise I need to do what’s right for me. We all do. Including you.

The reality is there will be nothing left on Earth. Whether we kill the planet first or the sun does, remains to be seen. The important thing is we are here now. It’s up to us to live our best life while we are here.

Enough waffling, on with the newsletter.

1. My Writing

In the last newsletter, I mentioned that?I'd started writing another romance!???♀???♀???

In just over 2 weeks I've written and typed up 15,000 words with at least another 15,000 still to type and I keep adding to it daily.??

It's true to say that I think I'm on a roll.?????

It's a bit different to my other writing so we'll see where it goes, if anywhere.?


2. Social Media


As most of you may know, I've never been a massive fan of social media and even less of a fan of algorithms.? I decided this week to deactivate my Twitter/X account so the main platforms I use now are LinkedIn, Pinterest and Goodreads.?If you would like to follow me on any of these please click on the links.?

I don't post much now as I'm concentrating more on my writing.? (See point 1,) and I'm enjoying things more.? I've constantly compared myself to others who appear to be doing exceptionally well on social media that it began to be detrimental to my mental health.

It has its place, as does everything but I'm a people person and I'm currently exploring different avenues which are better for my mental health and my enjoyment of life.? More on that in future newsletters.?

It's Okay to Say No!

These are all things I've learned to do in the last year or so.?

It's not easy changing your mindset and allowing yourself to be you.? But it is necessary and it will be worth it in the long run.?
