Does luck exist by itself?

Personally I believe that you have to clarify in your mind what is the exact definition of luck and how you can take advantage of it. And that is why I decided to write this post to share with you my opinion.

The majority of the ones that I approach seem to ignore that luck is simply the consequence of an opportunity that you created. I believe that luck doesn’t exist by itself, however if you expose yourself to several events with uncertainty about their future you will be able to make your luck work for you.

I think it is extremely unfair to limit your success calling it luck. You manage to close that deal, or to get that job offer it was not luck per se.

I will give you my personal example, I first learned about the technology industry in a conference – I believe it was the best opportunity that I could ever find – I think it is unfair to call it luck, I was there because I was managing and creating my set of opportunities by going to each and single one event of my different universities. If I wasn’t there no luck could save me.

That being said, my advice to you is to constantly have the best grades, to join clubs and junior organizations, to do summer internships and volunteer work. To go to every single networking event that you ever heard and later on, to be passionate about your hobbies and to follow your dreams. And in the end, after all your work you will be successful, and you will end up having what is usually called luck.
