Yesterday one of our client sent me the following query and ask if it does impact on the running environment or not see the following query may you will face alike situation
Query below
We are running MS Exchange
Server 2013 in a DAG Mode like as you know the whole enviornment but for the
assure below are our whole environment
Node 1 which contains CAS
Server 1(Note: This server is also a fileshare Witness Server)
Mailboxserver1
Node 2 which contains CAS
Server 2
Mailboxserver2
As you know that we are
running Server 2012 Standard. Mailboxserver 1 & 2 are running in a cluster
mode and CAS1 is a fileshare witness Server
I am Planning to disable
SMB1 on servers which included fileshare witness Server. My question is that is
there any impact on disabling SMB1 on all the exchange Servers and on the
fileshare witness server?
And kindly tell me the best practice to restart each node or is there anything I have to do before restarting each node since FSW is running
Answer to the Query
I did this already so I can say very categorically that It does not impact on your running environment
You can do this by PowerShell. You don’t need to restart you servers. The FSW is not in play in a DAG unless you are in danger of losing quorum.
