Does Hard = Bad? | Overcoming the Mindset that Limits Us From Doing Hard Things

There are many things we subconsciously assign meaning to. One of those areas I’ve noticed in my own life is in the area of something being considered “hard”. It’s as if when something is then “hard”, human instinct kicks in and the desire to stop, quit, or assign value to something as good or bad becomes second nature. It’s as if we subconsciously believe good things should be easy and bad things are hard. Though when we think about it we know that’s not a true statement, our instincts aren’t based on truth, but rather feelings and emotions.?

Hard = Uncomfortable?

Because hard things make us uncomfortable and we instinctively desire comfort, we start to associate hard things as being bad because we desire to create a world in our minds that allows us to remain comfortable while also having good things.

Truth: Hard can = Good?

Not to say that there are not some good things you can obtain easily, but as the saying goes “nothing worthwhile is easy”. We have to rewire this pattern of thinking that is second nature to believe hard things are bad, and start choosing to believe most good things don’t come easily and actually require hard work. When something is hard it presents us with an opportunity to grow, learn, and push past the current limits we live in, tapping into our potential.?

You won’t know what you are fully capable of if you remain on the sidelines of comfortability, you actually have to get on the field and do hard things. Whether you fail or succeed there’s one thing I can guarantee: you’ll grow and come to realize you’re going to be okay even if you fail, even if something is hard, even if you face rejection, push back and obstacles.

The hard things you set out to accomplish in the face of adversity are the most rewarding. It’s much more rewarding to accomplish something that you set out to do that's hard then something that's easy.

You can do hard things. On the other side of hard is “the more”. You are made for more than what you currently know now. The road to more often comes in the form of “hard”. Choose to step out and say “yes” to hard.
