Does a good mushroom season stand for the start of a war?

I was a little bit shocked when one of my Russian colleagues told me that apparently we have had one of the biggest mushroom harvests in a long time and he added - thats usually happening before a war.
What I can agree to is that indeed I have not harvested so many mushrooms on my dacha and the forests around it for quite a while. What concerns the second part of his conclusion I can only the say that the war for talent is over and it was won by the candidates.
Today I asked my staff about the latest jobs coming in and many job titles they told me we wouldnt have dreamed of delivering 3 years ago. The consultants were complaining how difficult it was to source the right candidates, because many roles dont have a traditional career path to or in recent Russian economic times were not that much in demand. As some examples I would like to mention: Genetics manager, Nutritionist, Rose Veal Manager or a Driver Experience Manager... Our profession as head hunters as quickly adapting.
Moreover, the fight for talent can also be seen in the record number of counter offers our candidates are getting. This is probably the most frustrating thing for a recruiter when she or he feels that the deal is done but the candidate stays where they are with a 30% pay increase for which we cannot unfortunately issue any invoice. So if you are hiring ensure you check both motivations - why is a person going to leave their current employer and why your offer is what they have been dreaming of. Only hire if you are convinced of both answers.
Finally, there are of course local pecularities. For example the order for a personal assistant (one of many) to the shareholder of a large holding who shouldnt be taller than 175 centimeters and... or native Chinese speakers to work in luxury shopping malls.
Despite the amount of mushrooms growing or falling the fight for talent continues and we as recruiters as well as the mushroom seekers need to ensure we find those profiles that are as good from the inside as they look from the outside.
