Does European Peoples Party merely serve as an appendage to Corporate Power?

Ongoing MICA / PYRITE / PYRRHOTITE Crisis in Ireland: -

The plot thickens.....what the hell is a German MEP (Peter Jahr) doing submitting amendments to the EU Parliament's Petitions Committees "MICA" report? In particular his "force majeure" amendment appears to have been a three card trick to absolve the perpetrators of the crisis from any liability - the quarry / concrete sector - nice one Mr. Jahr. Could it be that Mr. Jahr's political party, Christian Democratic Union and Fine Gael are both members of the EPP (European People's Party) and they do each others dirty work? I have asked the questions but the answers are not forthcoming.

Dear Mr. Jahr,

I sent the below e-mail to you yesterday (March 18th). Indeed, I have sent a number of e-mails to Dolors Montserrat since last October but have received no responses.

I am writing to you as you are the person named as having proposed certain amendments, notably “force majeure” in the Mica report. Please correct me if I’m wrong. It is hard to understand how and why an MEP from Germany is tabling such amendments, when in fairness, you can have little to no understanding of the crisis here in Ireland.

I understand your party and Ireland’s Fine Gael party are both members of the European Peoples Party. No doubt, Fine Gael duped you into proposing said amendments, without informing you of the real and true position regarding Ireland’s “Mica” crisis. The question arises as to why government has created a grant scheme, to be funded by Irish Taxpayers, to partially assist some victims, whilst government seeks to protect the sector that has caused the problem – cement / quarry / concrete sector.

This sector is dominated (controlled) by an Irish company CRH plc, now the world’s largest or 2nd largest construction materials company. The company has long since been protected by Fine Gael / EPP (and others) in terms of its corrupt and criminal ways. The company is quite simply above the law, here in Ireland.

I have many colleagues in Germany who are fully acquainted with the sector in Ireland, the behaviour of CRH plc and the archaic and dysfunctional legal system that protects this company. In all my dealings with Germany, I have found the people to be very straight and honest and consequently, you will probably be somewhat taken aback with this email.

That said, our trust in the EU project has gradually been eroded. While refusing to engage with the independent sector, Commissioner Vestager met with the cement / concrete giants, Lafarge and Holcim and allowed them to merge, which in itself, was extremely questionable. Worse was to follow, Lafarge Holcim had to make substantial asset divestments under the terms of the EU’s approval of the merger. Again, Ms. Vestager met with CRH plc and allowed it to purchase the entire divestment portfolio from Lafarge Holcim, for €6.5 billion. According to Transparency International, there are 48,000 lobbyists in Brussels. Is it any wonder, SME’s throughout Europe are so concerned.

Here are two of my more recent articles on CRH plc / “Mica” / Liability.

I gather you have an active interest in farming and will have been carefully following EU farmers calling enough is enough, they have had enough of Brussels and rightly so. Here is a link to an excellent report on farming that I did in 2015. It is still very relevant today. You might find it interesting to compare with Germany.

Subject: Tuesday Vote on "Mica" Report

Dear Member of the Committee on Petitions,

Below, we provide some balance on the ongoing “Mica Crisis”. The Irish Government and Irish political representatives in the EU (largely through corporate capture of / civil servants and political parties) have manipulated the narrative around the so-called “Mica” crisis and its background, to create a sophisticated protection racket surrounding the perpetrators of the crisis (Irish cement / quarry / concrete sector). It is called legal corruption – when powerful groups manipulate policy formation to serve their own interests rather than the public interest.

CRH plc liability for Mica / Pyrite / Pyrrhotite / Other Sulphides in Ireland:

https://villagemagazine.ie/the-omerta-around-crh.../

Deleterious Concrete Building Materials aka Pyrite / Pyrrhotite / other Sulfides, mistakenly referred to as MICA: The situation surrounding this ongoing crisis is inane in the extreme. Why is there a government grant scheme (that is totally inadequate and wholly discriminatory) that penalises taxpayers and protects the perpetrators (the cement / quarry / concrete sector). If one thinks about the matter, it is extraordinary and just another chapter in the long-standing protection racket surrounding CRH plc (Ireland’s largest company and the world’s largest/second largest construction materials company).

State Protection Racket: https://villagemagazine.ie/fifty-years-of-omerta-on.../

To understand the criminal structures and behaviour of the cement / quarry / concrete sector in Ireland, one will need to carefully read our letter of July 29th, 2022 to the Irish Concrete Federation

2022_07_29 SFM to Irish Concrete Federation (Redacted for Facebook).

It is beyond comprehension that our political regime should force innocent taxpayers to foot the bill for deleterious materials, whilst the perpetrators continue to earn billions of euros in profits across the world. The current “redress scheme” surely can be categorized as illegal State -Aid through the back door.

Donegal Daily attributes the following statement to Mr. Chris McManus, MEP: -

“The entire country has been outraged by the treatment of our families living in defective concrete block homes. Their pursuit of justice and 100% redress is something we in Sinn Féin fully support and it is my hope that the European Parliament Committee on Petitions vote through a progressive report on Tuesday”. How does this make any sense? There is no provision for compensation for homeowners nor the other property owners who are being discriminated against. Why have our political parties chosen to penalise taxpayers whilst protecting the perpetrators of this crisis.

The fear is that your Peti Committee has only received the government / establishment narrative on the so-called Mica Crisis. There is only so much that responsible citizens can do to effect justice and fairness across Europe. With the majority of Irish MEP’s wholly captured by the body corporate, this task becomes a whole lot harder. Unfortunately for victims and taxpayers, the Irish government’s narrative on deleterious materials, includes cover-ups, fraud, corruption and corrupt standards?

We can only hope that Peti makes a stand and does the proper thing for both victims and taxpayers.

Sincerely,

Seamus F. Maye
