Does a ‘dream job’ really exist?

I heard someone recently say that a dream job for most employees, will be one where they work as little as possible and get paid as much as possible.?

It sounds funny but a random survey showed me that there are people who think this way. If that is your idea of a dream job then, the outright answer would be that your dream job does not exist. And this is not a case of “what God cannot do does not exist”, lol.??

Now, to serious issues. What does a dream job connote for most people? I will talk about some of them here, but please share them in the comment section if you think they are more.?

The first thing I think employees seem to want a lot is appreciation. For many people, a dream job would be one where their efforts are appreciated, however little or insignificant it may be to the company's overall result. No one wants to take that he or she can be replaced at the snap of a finger. People want to be made to feel that they matter.?

Another would be encouraging self-development. Employers will do their staff a whole lot of good if they encourage them to develop themselves and take courses and training where applicable. This could take the form of in-house training or maybe subsidizing the cost of courses for employees should they decide to go on a course.?

Another is good pay. You are probably wondering why this did not come as the first option, but I discovered that even though the pay matters, you would find employees who are willing to stick with you even without fantastic pay - provided that the earlier two options are met.?

As a plus, I think another that employers could do for their staff allows feedback and free flow of communication. Every once in a while, it could be good to take anonymous feedback or let the employees know that their opinion on issues counts. Let them all be part of the decision-making process somehow. Let them know that their opinion, however little, can influence the overall decision of the management.?

Lastly, we could look at staff protection. In your company, do your staffs know that whatever happens, they can trust the management to protect their interests? It could be in a case of harassment, abuse, intimidation, oppression, or maltreatment. If there are clear policies to protect staff in the event of any of these, then your company could just be the dream job for someone out there.?

Please, share more thoughts with me in the comment section.
