This month we’re focusing on the Great Minds? Launch, Learn, Land curricula structure. This lesson structure serves an important role in?creating?the?cognitive conditions?that are?optimal for student learning by attending to?students’?cognitive load and including instructional practices that research shows best support long-term retention of information.

Lessons begin with?the Launch portion, which introduces the topic and activates prior knowledge. Then, the Learn portion engages students in accessing new knowledge, building on previous knowledge, and sharing what they have learned. In the Land portion, students reflect on their learning and how their new knowledge fits into the larger context of the topic or module and real-life application.?

Yes, the structure of curriculum does matter for sequence processing to demonstrate proficiency in content and context. Navigating Cognitive Mediation is necessary to process information, anchor a practical application, and ability to recall under stress.
