Culture and Productivity

Check out Coley Burkes concept in the book section below that he uses to help show that sales growth doesn’t happen without every person’s collective efforts in the company:

Does Culture Impact Productivity?

By Coley Burke

What the Idea Is: Does culture have an impact on productivity? Yes! I am a firm believer that a healthy, thriving company culture can fuel productivity gains and success across all departments.

Why It Is Valuable: There is a significant focus on tangible efforts to improve productivity, but what about the intangible elements that buoy morale and drive the entire organization to go the extra mile every day, no matter the function? I see culture as one of those intangibles that can lead to improvements in productivity on all fronts.

How It Works: The best cultures happen organically, shaped by leadership, company values, and mission. In selling organizations, the spotlight is often put on sales teams and their efforts. However, if the kudos and celebrations are not balanced across the other supporting functions, it can lead to resentment and the stall of innovation, effort, and focus.

Sales leaders must recognize their role in creating, nurturing, and living “culture.” I use a simple concept to help show that sales growth doesn’t happen without every person’s collective efforts in the company: ONE (Ownership Needs Everyone). Telling people and their functional groups how they matter to the sales outcome instills ownership, pride, and willingness to go the extra mile. These people are critical to the company’s success and significance.

By taking the time to recognize the efforts and celebrating the success of the people outside the sales organization who make the operation work, a sales leader can bolster morale, nurture the culture, and add a powerful intangible that drives success. Culture matters!?
