Namaskar and welcome to Spoorthi Wellness.
From our earliest years, we have experienced competition in every aspect of our life - academics, sports, elocution, quizzes, debates etc.
And, it does not stop there.
As children - sometimes we compete with our own siblings for attention of our parents.
And in later life - we compete with others to get an admission in a nice college and then to get a nice job.
Even in matters of the heart, sometimes we compete to get the attention of the people that we like and would like to date.
So, if competition is everywhere - why this question?
Let’s explore..
?????????????????????????? ?????? ?????????? ???? ??????????????????????:
Before we delve deeper, let's examine why we engage in competition in the first place.
Two primary normal instincts drive our competitive spirit: ‘????????????????????’ and ‘???????????? ???? ???????????????????? ????????????’.
These tendencies lead us down the path of competition.
?????? ?????????????? ???? ????????????????????:
The act of comparing ourselves to others, while seemingly harmless, often results in emotional turmoil.
Let me illustrate this with a scenario.
Imagine a highly successful Vice President of a prominent company.
He has a fulfilling career, a loving family and is very happy and content with his life.
One day, while having a conversation with his colleague - he gets to know that his colleague is drawing USD 1,000 more salary than him despite having similar skill sets, experience, and qualifications.
He feels a sense of unfairness. His heart becomes heavy.
His mind begins to ask - Why is my colleague getting USD 1,000 more?
And then self doubt creeps in. Is his colleague better than him?
So, his mind is full of these non-beneficial thoughts.
His mind completely loses focus on the USD 1 million salary that he actually earns each year.
Th subconsciously focusses on the additional USD 1,000 that his colleague is getting more than him.
This makes him sad & unhappy.
In the sad space – he is flooded with negative thoughts. This affects his creativity.
Also - in this sad state - he does not feel like interacting with others.
This impacts his ability to collaborate with others which inturn impacts his career.
His sad mental state also impacts his family and marital life.
Thus, you see, a simple and seemingly harmless act of comparing yourself to others can alter your inner reality and rob your inner peace and harmony.
?????? ???????????????? ???? ????????????????????:
It's crucial to realize that comparison is an illusion.
Each of us has a unique life.
Even siblings growing up in the same household, sharing the same environment and upbringing, have completely different experiences.
Each of us has a unique life path that has its own highs and lows.
Each of us has our own unique skill sets, personalities, strengths and weaknesses.
This is because - all of us are a unique expression of the One Energy / Creator / God / Divine Energy.
This One Energy chooses to live through each of us in a very unique way.
So - there is no point in comparing your life with anyone else’s life.
It is much better to focus on your life and try to make the most of it.
?????????????????????????? ???????????? ???? ???? ????????????????:
Most of the times - behind the act of comparison is a subconscious desire to outperform and outdo others.
We want to outperform our neighbour - we want to buy a bigger car than him.
We want to outperform our colleagues and to buy a bigger house than them.
Sometimes - we get into a competition with one single person.
Then, we start focussing our energies on defeating the other person rather than focussing on our life.
This latent desire to outperform other never ends.
Only the people and circumstances keep changing.
And what is the impact of this?
We experience jealousy, heart-burn, anxiety & stress.
Trying to outperform others - in other words be better than others is an illusion.
At the core – we are all part and different expressions / Avatars of the same One Energy.
Let me give an analogy -Does the thumb finger in your hand compete with the index finger?
The answer is ‘No’ since both are part of the same body.
In fact - the thumb finger and index finger collaborate and help you do activities seamlessly.
In the same way - you and I and everyone else are all a unique manifestation of this One Energy.
?????? ?????????? ???? ?????? ????????????:
We are all interconnected as part of a singular energy—the universe, consciousness, God, or any name you prefer.
We are not merely connected; we are this One Energy.
Therefore, the notion of comparison, outdoing others and competition among interconnected souls is an illusion.
?????????????????? ????????'?? ???????????? ????????:
The key to genuine contentment lies in understanding this illusion of competition and embracing our unique life path.
Instead of comparing ourselves to others or trying to outperform them, we can focus on our life.
And it is equally important to give our best each moment and to keep learning and growing as a person.
And, while you are doing the above - collaborate with others.
Help others on their life’s path and receive help from other people on your life path.
This enhances the quality of life.
You feel more content, joyful and happy.
Embark on a path of contentment, contribution and happiness.
Best wishes to each of you on your own journey of this lifetime & beyond.
