Does ChatGPT Dream of Electric Sheep?

Does ChatGPT Dream of Electric Sheep?

Good morning and welcome back to the AI Chalkboard, are you ready for a Monday morning study session on all things AI? Today we’re covering music, logistics, philosophy and Meta.?

Well, now I’ve seen it all, AI generated music can be submitted for Grammy consideration. The kicker is that there has to have been a meaningful contribution made by a human and the AI can’t submit itself, the human has to. Are we really to the point where we have to say that part out loud though? I feel like that was a given.? (2 minute read)

Eventually yours will be the only human hands to touch your groceries. The supply chain is going to be completely free of human involvement sooner than you’d think.? From self-driving trucks, to AI and machine learning being used for forecasting needs and possible disruptions, the human element will be almost gone from the process pretty soon. This might stoke fears of job losses but, like any technological advancement, this will surely bring about a whole new sector of work. (6 minute read)

The philosophical question of our time might be. “Is AI helping or harming us?” . Because of AI we may be on the brink of meeting the next Socrates, hopefully they don’t get kidnapped by Bill and Ted to help save their history presentation.? Or, we might be on the verge of the plot of Idiocracy. No matter what, we should probably be excellent to each other. (7 minute read)

Meta is at it again! Now they are introducing a new generative AI called Voicebox, a new text to voice AI . This system will allow you to use text to accomplish tasks that involve speaking and can use your voice to speak in other languages. This could be fun or it could go south if scammers start to use it for nefarious purposes. Meta says they are working toward distinguishing AI generated voices and real human ones. (2 minute read)

Homework

You might have heard about how LLMs hallucinate but your lesson today explains why and how. This just seems like an interesting topic to understand and we can be sure to have questions about this sort of thing show up on episodes of Jeopardy in the future. I’ll take ChatGPT for $500, Alex.?
