Does Attraction Marketing Really Work?

In this blogpost, I’ll be sharing with you about Attraction Marketing 101, explaining the basic principles. 

Recently, I got really inspired.

Actually, attraction marketing, I’ve heard about this term in 2015, which is around 3 years ago. I have been searching in Google and YouTube, and I’ve been following some leaders who are actually practising this marketing style. 

I’m going to break it down. First of all, those things that you must not be doing at all costs. When you see on FaceBook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, all these kinds of social media, a lot of network marketers are on these platform doing social media marketing. But what we can see is that they are posting all about the promotions of their company, and more about their company, right? They’re posting in a lot of FaceBook Groups, which doesn’t get much engagement. 

Initially when I started in network marketing and got active on social media, I was thinking, a great idea on FaceBook, I can actually post all of my promotional things at that time.

I was doing a weight loss program. So I spammed my whole FaceBook profile wall with the transformational BEFORE-AFTER photos. Whenever there are big holidays like Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, we have promotions and I also spammed it on my wall. So I was also guilty of that. 

However, I have learned that in attraction marketing, it is not a good idea to be doing that.

It’s my Mission and a lot of my community’s Mission to uplift all the network marketers, even though we’re in different type of network marketing companies, but we hope to uplift this profession to be a more professionally recognized industry. 

When you see people posting about their company, revealing everything, of which company they’re with, they are actually thinking that this is the way to do business. 

But what they’re actually doing is giving away the end story of a movie. For example, the latest movie that your Friend has watched. And before you even asked about the movie, your Friend has told you the beginning of the movie, the plot of the movie, the character of the movie, what happened in the middle and also how the movie will end. So, will you actually thank your Friend? You’ll be so ‘geram’ with him or her, right? Because he gave away the whole ending of the movie. Don’t even have to go watch it already!

In attraction marketing, what you want is getting people to be curious about what you’re actually doing. So once you create that curiosity, you are actually doing attraction marketing.

So, I want to dive in a brief way. There are 3 principles in attraction marketing.

The first is called B, Build your Audience…
The second one will be E, Engaging with your Audience…
And the third one will be S, which stands for Sell or Serve your Audience…

In marketing, if you’re targeting everybody, you’re targeting nobody. So you need to be crystal clear. Who is your target audience or who is your target and ideal prospect and customers? Most likely, the people or prospect or customers that are attracted to you will be most likely be the same as you.

They have the same demographics. What they love, how they are like, their lifestyle. Whether women above 40, mothers above 50 or Grandmother with three grandkids or fathers. They are most of the time, just like you. 

So crystal clear about your audience that you want to serve. You really know about the ins and outs of their mind. What are their pains and struggles, what keeps them up at night, tossing and turning. And what is their greatest dream that they want, their deepest desires. 

And by knowing that precisely, you would have already won. Because why? The next principle that I’m going to share with you is engaging with your audience. So once you know their pains and struggles, you can actually create content to help solve their problems. When you help solve people’s problems, you’ll be increasing the KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST factor. 

You become an instant authority figure. Do you understand? 

Simply put, engaging with your audience, there are 2 parts in it.

First is the Marketing, passive marketing. And the second part is active prospecting. So both we have to balance. 

Prospecting is the fastest way by reaching out to people and having conversations with your target audience. Then at the same time, we also need to be doing content creation. 

Simply put, here are the types of content that you need to be posting on social media to get the highest quality of people attracted to you:

RESULTS
VALUE
LIFESTYLE
MOTIVATION
EDUCATION
TRANSFORMATION

I will go through these briefly. 

The first one is RESULTS.

The results can be your own or also from your team. A lot of people think that to post about results, they have to have huge results or living a kind of rockstar lifestyle to be posting this type of content. 

But no, you can always post results from your team members. As simple as, a very busy hair salon lady recently just got her first paycheck of $1,000! 

That is a win as well.

You can also search for results from your team and posting it on social media. “A shoutout to a recent single Mom who just recently started with us less than two weeks ago and she got her first check of $500. So that is something that you can post. 

These are all generic kind of posts, that doesn’t say the name of the company. 

The next type of post are VALUE posts. 

Where do you get the VALUE from? It’s from reading personal development books and also audios. So when you give value, you build the kind of trust in people. When you give value to people’s lives, you actually uplift them and they will be attracted to you, right? They will be attracted to you because you’ll be having a kind of positive energy. 

The third one would be LIFESTYLE type of posts. It can be as simple as during a weekday, you’re spending time with your children at the zoo, grocery shopping. Whenever you’re out and about, put on your marketing cap and think of what kind of posts or videos that you can shoot. Just a short clip will do. 

The fourth one is the MOTIVATION type of posts. I’m really into personal development. So my favorite people to listen to are Tony Robbins, Ray Higdon, Mel Robbins and Les Brown. Everybody loves motivation.

Next is the EDUCATION type of posts. If you don’t educate people but just motivate them, there’s a saying that you’ll be motivating an idiot. Because education is the best motivation. Education can mean a lot of things like how to overcome certain kind of harmful, destructive behaviours and thought patterns; how to get out of worrying or get out of fear or breakthrough in something. 

The last type of content posts that you can do is the TRANSFORMATION type of content posts.

You can share stories like shoutout to some of the results of your team members. Just a very generic type of a Transformation story is always the best way to show transformations. When you continuously and consistently listen to motivational podcasts or read books, you can actually educate and uplift people’s lives. And therefore, you’ll have endless contents for transformation type of content to put out there. 

So all these six types of content posts you can post on social media, they’re like trailer to a movie. It’s something like teaser that you’re creating curiosity, so that people will come and buy the ticket to watch the whole full movie. So this is the part where we call the engagement part of this attraction marketing.

This Building your Audience and Engaging with your Audience, is actually preparing them so that now you can actually serve them by selling them your courses, your products, or your opportunity. 

So with that, I want to encourage you to take massive, massive action because action is the bridge between your dreams and reality.

Majority of people in the society don’t really do regular personal development. They watch the news, listen to radios about the news, about a lot of negativity. So their mind is like a muddy toxic cup, a cup full of barbecue sauce, soy sauce. It’s very muddy, right? You can’t really see through it to the other side of the space. 

It’s the same as people who has big egos with small bank accounts. So doing personal development regularly is like pouring crystal clear water. You can experiment at home. If you just pour any dark sauce, tomato sauce, Chili sauce, barbecue sauce into one cup, it’s full of mud. And start pouring crystal clear water into it. Slowly, it will clear up. So, crystal clear water is like personal development for our mind. 

During personal development time, what I like to do is make notes. Sometimes when you listen to a lot of audios, read a lot of books and doing all these personal development thing, it can be a little bit overwhelming. So what I do is take notes and these notes, I compile it into my Trello App. 

So now I want to challenge you. Because it’s easier. It’s way, way easier to just post about company promotions and re-post links all over FaceBook Groups. But today, I want to encourage you to challenge yourself, to do whatever it takes. It’s easy to just post all of the company names, links and promotions out there, but it takes a little bit of creativity and thinking, putting on the marketing cap to post a curiosity post. So it’s easy but it’s not simple. And I want to encourage you to fall in love with the process of becoming great.

You need to trust the process. Don’t rush it, don’t rush the process, just trust in it. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Just get comfortable by being judged by other people. Because in order to be great, you have to deal with the opposition of haters, the opposition of people judging you. You have to do it. People portraying their insecurity onto you because anyone that hates is just jealousy, expressing in an unusual way. It’s people expressing themselves. So the issue is with them, not you. And that should not stop you from creating content and putting it out into the world because you must believe that you have value and you’re going to help upgrade this profession and this industry. 

A journey of a thousand miles always starts with the first step. Taking action is always the first step, right?
