Does anyone really LOVE their job?

As I have matured in my career and gone through more life experiences I have personally realized it is not about loving your job, so much as it is about the mentality you have about your job. And the energy you bring to your team every day.

Do you wake up some days less excited to show up to work and solve the same problems you have been for the last 10 years? Maybe that is because you are approaching the problems the same way you have for last 10 years. We are creatures of habits, but sometimes we need to create new habits and new routines to bring more joy to our work and find new meaning.

A few simple ways I have started to implement this:

1) Find something new at the end of each work day that made your day uniquely intriguing. (gratitude works)

2) Make yourself smile after a long meeting that sucked your energy.

3) Get sunlight even if it is for less than 5 minutes, at least 2 times during your work day.

4) If you find yourself needing an afternoon pick me up to get you excited for the second half of your day, listen to a song that you can sing or dance to.

While I am not discrediting toxic work environments, in which case you need to actively search for a new job, you can make the most of the work environment you are in now. Give yourself new mental and physical habits in your work day and choose to be a more energized employee when you show up to your next meeting! What's the worse that could happen? You may just start smiling more :)
