DOE Opens Applications for Long-Duration Energy Storage Voucher
Funder/Agency:
Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Electricity (OE)
Description:
The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Electricity (OE) announced that applications are now open for two voucher opportunities totaling $1M in OE technical assistance for potential recipients. Longer duration storage technologies will transform the electric grid to meet the nation’s growing need for clean, reliable, efficient, cost-effective energy.
The Voucher Program aims to increase LDES project deployments nationwide to enhance the flexibility, resilience, and reliability of our evolving electric infrastructure. Increasing energy storage also helps achieve the Biden-Harris Administration’s clean energy goals for a net-zero economy by 2050.
Vouchers will be distributed as in-kind support, meaning that ENERGYWERX will directly reimburse the Voucher Provider for the work they have completed on behalf of the Voucher Recipients. The value of each voucher will depend on the services defined in the Providers’ capability statements, with estimated values of support services per recipient ranging from $50k to $150k.
