Position: DoD Skillbridge Internship - Licensed Physical Therapist

Location(s): South Ohio & Northern Kentucky

General Summary:

We are excited to offer a unique DoD Skillbridge internship opportunity for transitioning service members with experience as licensed Physical Therapists in the military healthcare system. This internship will provide hands-on training and professional development in the field of physical therapy. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. This internship aims to further enhance your skills and prepare you for a successful civilian career as a Physical Therapist. Successful completion of the internship may lead to a full-time position, subject to evaluation.

Essential Job Functions:

During the internship, you will be responsible for the following key tasks:

  • Conducting comprehensive evaluations of patients to assess their physical condition and functional abilities.
  • Developing individualized treatment plans based on the evaluation findings, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Providing direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, modalities, and other interventions.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient progress throughout the course of treatment.
  • Educating patients and their families on home exercise programs and self-management strategies.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  • Adhering to clinic policies, including HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
  • Participating in continuing education activities to stay updated on the latest advancements in the field of physical therapy.

Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Transitioning service member eligible for the DoD Skillbridge program.
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the military healthcare system.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform therapeutic interventions.

Work Environment:

This internship will take place in a clinical setting where physical therapy services are provided. You will have the opportunity to work closely with a team of healthcare professionals and gain practical experience in the field of physical therapy.

Duration and Compensation:

This is a DoD Skillbridge internship, with the duration and schedule to be determined based on the program guidelines. The internship provides a valuable learning experience and does not offer monetary compensation.
