"Doctor, One prescription please…"

"Doctor, One prescription please…"

"Doctor, One Prescription Please…"

Imagine this scene:

Inside a doctor's chamber, a Young Medical Representative, His request is simple,

"Doctor, why are you not prescribing my brand?" ?

And then the plea, "Could you please give me at least one prescription per week? My job is on the line." ????

The request for 'one prescription' wasn't new, but his concern for his job struck my chord.

Dressed in smart attire, they patiently await outside the doctor's cabin, eagerly anticipating a chance to present their product, all for the hope of securing just "one prescription".

They work for longer hours, often stretching into the night, making visits to hospitals and chemists.

Have you ever wondered ?? How many doctors do they meet?

How many times do they repeat the same spiel? ??

In a sea of brands and choices, how do they sway doctors? ????

The doctor holds the key to prescriptions, and the MR's task is to convince them to choose their brand.

A tough job indeed. ??

So, how do they do it? Some opt for legitimate methods, providing quality information and highlighting the unique benefits of their products. Others resort to gifts, freebies, and even dubious tactics to gain attention. ????

But it's a two-way street.

Doctors in India primarily learn about new drugs through these pharma representatives. Hundreds of new drugs flood the market each year, including uniquely Indian combinations. Chemists swap out brands at their discretion.

But do Doctors truly value their time?

Are they attentive and respectful during their visits?

Do they consider their perspective and challenges?

In the end, people will need medicines, pharma will produce them, and doctors will prescribe them.?

The competition is fierce, the market is growing, and the stakes are high.?

So, the next time you walk into a doctor's clinic, take a moment to notice these unsung heroes who stands outside clinics, waiting tirelessly, to deliver their message with dedication. ?? ????

Admire their determination and acknowledge the challenging role they play in shaping our healthcare landscape. ????

Thanks for posting this, Amit. The MRs are the backbone of the entire healthcare system. Their job is tough indeed. Gone are those days when companies and HCPs solely used to rely on quality content. Today the market is beyond imagination. Although, I never worked as an MR in the field. Being part of medico-marketing communications always allowed me to interact with the marketing teams and MRs. I have been part of many training sessions for MRs. The MRs do a commendable job every single day. Every MRs story is inspiring and brings new insights. The only issue: nobody cares! All one wants is a sale EoD ????
