A DOCTOR WAS LYNCHED

Today a doctor was lynched at Bengal and there is a call for strike tomorrow (3rd sept). In strike all the doctors would not see patients in protest.Prima facie it looks good that doctors lobby is together and bringing forth their grievance in the shape of protest and pressing govt to take action .But then what would it mean for the poor patients. They would get all the pain..isnt it. Its these poor and downtrodden patients who has nobody to go to (private arrangements) and they don’t have a voice to protest. Some would opine that i am hitting the wrong chord because if doctors are not safe how would they treat their patients confidently.Thats true but this is also true that few weeks back we had a similar strike by doctors and that resulted in unwanted casualties .That protest yielded no outcome considering the todays incident. This beings us to catch 22 situation “ if we don’t protest doctors would die , if we don’t patients would”.

So whats the solution to this conundrum.Though it looks convoluted there is a way .Its just that we need to look holistically at the situation.Yesterday we saw that a few innocent people got killed because of false rumour of baby lifting gang.Such frequent felonies done in the name of at the spot Justice can not be wrinkled out by one section of the society. We need to take action together. Why don’t we all protest in some form to force enact a law that straightens those who take law in their hands .In the doctors case why don’t patients , workers in the hospitals , general public raise their voice and brings these miscreants behind the bars under a very serious offence Act.

This is what i feel .What do you say.

If trust between patient doctor is decreasing, it is due to multiple factors.Illiteracy of patients, work burden on healthcare workers, capitilist pressures ( in case of Pvt. Healthcare). Unethical treatment by doctor, Average compensation for junior to mid level doctors, exploitation in both govt & Pvt. Set-ups. Lack of Govt. Regulations & control Healthcare system should consist of core interest groups: Patient interest groups Doctors interest group Healthcare workers interest groups Hospital mangement ( private or govt) These groups shall stich together a healthcare delivery system which protects & integrates the prime objectives of each group.
