Health care, the life care is a responsibility of many professionals. Some professions, from school benches, already sees the option of working with a large industry. Usually the Doctor does not.
For the graduate doctor, the impact of his profession is on direct patient-to-patient contact.
Over time, more clearly involved in direct assistance, the doctor comes to better understand of the multidisciplinary, economic and logistics complexity of health care. At that moment, it starts to understand the importance of the industry to provide the inputs, logistics and updating in health care.
A product, has a life cycle, goes from the initial idea, the development of the product, its access to the market, the control of product safety, its adaptation to trends and its death, then a transition to another technology begins.
When we understand the doctor in the industry, far beyond the "speaker", in addition to the technical presentation of a product or therapy, we understand that he fits in with his knowledge, contributing to all these phases.
Medical knowledge is important for evaluating ideas, needs and therapeutic trends; it is in this first phase that products are born. They are not born out of an imposition from the "Olympus", they are born out of a demand for health care. Collaboration with health entities, governments and the relationship with opinion leaders, understanding demands, security and trends bring important benefits to the development of new products.
At a time when a new product and therapy is already being developed, the interaction of medical knowledge with engineering and marketing becomes fundamental. Medical knowledge begins to generate and collect scientific evidence that will direct specific aspects of the new product, including aspects of project risk analysis and management.
The medical connection during the market access phase is now closely linked to Marketing, providing connection with medical societies, opinion leaders, sharing new knowledge and evidence, supporting the product. This support goes beyond the product itself, through the discussion of the business model, refunds, and strategies between the customer and the end customer. This almost "consulting" role to all the processes that orbit the medical device, has taken on more and more importance, lately, showing the need for knowledge from the usability of the product, not only in operational matters, but also in a tactic and strategic in the context of large health care provider.
During this phase, product safety monitoring is constant and essential. Evidence on its continued use emerges and should be evaluated, including the relationship with engineering intensifies again, as products have safety and usability updates, including risk assessment and management.
All products die at some point. It is a consensus that you should know if your product is obsolete before your customer. This transition to new technologies based on medical knowledge is essential. Supporting the client in an old technique or process to migrate out of their comfort zone to a new environment is important and, sure, a difficult task.
At the end of the day, the doctor in the industry has a huge impact on the care of the end patient. A Constant transformative role for the sake of health.
