HOW OLD IS THE RESIN?
- Only purchase enough resin that could be comfortably used as per the requirement of any project within half of the expected shelf life
- When stored for longer duration , eventually moisture can collect, which will affect the cuing
ARE WE KEEPING THE RESIN IN CLIMATE CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT?
- If temperature changes , It can build up moisture inside resin Lid and will affect the curing
DID YOU MIX PROPERLY?
- Usually the major reason is the Incorrect mixing ratio , manual mixing may cause difficulties of curing too if not mixed as recommended by the suppliers
- Different suppliers have different mixing ratio , follow the required ratio as their data sheet
- You need to mix it properly , even scrapping the sides of your mixing container
When the resin and Hardener are mixed together they cause a chemical reaction causing heat production , heat is what makes the mixture to get hard , A specific amount of each is required to be added to generate heat
WERE YOUR MIXING CUPS DRY?
- When you reuse them always make sure there is no leftover residues that may affect the ratio
WERE BOTH COMPONENTS OF RESIN FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER?
- Mostly resin containers come as a two part mix pack , Some suppliers buy different resin components from suppliers and may have varying pot life , Always test a sample before using it on your product
WAS YOUR MOLD DRY BEFORE USING?
- Make sure any mold release agent is dry before using that mold and pouring resin
As we can see the above factors hinder the curing of resins, If you feel or aware of other factors that could influence the curing
