Do yourself a favor and attend a #IamRemarkable Workshop

I wanted to write about my experience with the #IamRemarkable workshop. Spoiler alert: one of the best decisions you could ever make. You will remember this experience forever.

I never heard about this workshop until Simonas Baksys, a Googler, told me about it. We were talking about Google's work culture and how much Google cares about creating a diverse work environment. I told him how truly "remarkable" it was. Just by using that word, I reminded him that Google provides a workshop called "I Am Remarkable" which empowers women and underrepresented groups to celebrate their achievements. I knew I needed to attend this workshop.

Lindsey Lathrop was an amazing facilitator during this workshop. There were a variety of individuals from all over the world attending as well! It's crazy how fast you can connect with many different kinds of people in just 90 minutes. Lindsey educated us on the research behind diversity and gender in the workplace and beyond. But most importantly, she taught us how to feel like we can celebrate our accomplishments.

Attending this workshop changed me. After struggling with imposter syndrome and being hard on myself for not being perfect, this experience allowed me to stop beating myself up. Like Lindsey said, "You can't be great at everything!". I learned to appreciate the person I am today. I learned I can talk about my accomplishments in the workplace and beyond, even as a 19-year-old Cuban and Greek woman. I learned I can be unapologetically myself.
