Do your windows have a slow puncture?
In the national news this week, a couple were complaining of feeling cold draughts when standing next to their NEWLY installed windows by one of the major window installers.
It is highly unlikely that the actual window was letting the air in but very likely that the gap around the window was not sealed or insulated correctly.
Current methods of using silicone, spray foam and then bits of trim to hide the gap are simply not up to the job! They have no measurable U value like the windows are legally required to have. On a 1200x2400 window, an area the size of an I-pad is therefore losing energy-with no regulation!
ISO Chemie have a brilliant solution called BLOCO-ONE. This sticks across the width of the frame when the window is being installed and is 2mm when the window goes in to the aperture. It will then expand over the next 2 hours to up to 18mm (30mm if needed) No other trims/silicone/foams are needed and the next window can be fitted. It will give at least an A rating to the gap and can go to passivhaus standards. It is also acoustically reducing (63db) to A rated and weatherproof to 1.5x hurricane force driving rain (1050pa). It is also the only 100% air-tight tape on the market.
The tape is very cost effective against current methods when you reduce the amount of labour content.
