Do your messages have personality?
Got a compliment today - someone mentioned that she appreciates the writing on our website and social media because it "has personality. You can tell you guys mean it."
One of the classic marketing sayings is "don't just sell the steak, sell the sizzle." A good writing teacher will instruct her students "show me, don't tell me." And any good PR pro worth their per-diem knows that they are writing their pitches with the future headline in mind.
How are you going to make me - the audience - care? Don't drone on. Don't read to me. Don't - sigh - bore... me... into... submission.
Talk to me with enthusiasm. Write to me with interest. You don't have to be over-caffeinated (a crime of which I am oft guilty) or obnoxious (ditto) but you should show some interest in what you are promoting and find a way to convey that.
Put personality into your social media posts, your emails or your videos. Craft your voice so that we want to listen to you. Jules Winnfield was right. Personality goes a long way...

3 年Tim, I'm still really hungry for that steak that you've been talking about for years. What's the best steak place in Sonoma? I'm coming!
