Do your employees trust the company's sustainability strategy?


Companies are making big promises regarding their sustainability purpose, but are employees buying into these ambitious vision? Research suggests they’re actually not.

A recent study has found that only 52% of employees believe their employer’s sustainability commitments align with real action, while 12% actually think their company actively contradicts its ESG values.

When trust is broken, engagement drops, and when engagement drops, even the best sustainability strategies fall flat. Which leads us to ask:?if employees don’t believe in their company’s sustainability efforts, how can these initiatives succeed?



Many companies turn to technology to drive their sustainability strategies, that being through carbon tracking tools or energy management systems, for example; and while these solutions are helpful, they don’t tackle the real problem, which is building trust.

Employees need to see real, consistent action from leadership, not just complex sustainability reports or grandiose pledges. True impact comes when sustainability is woven into the company’s culture.

When leadership leads by example, employees are actively involved, and sustainable behaviors are encouraged in daily operations, trust will naturally follow.
