Do You Yoga?
Like everyone, I’m concerned. In these stressful times of not knowing whether I will be able to sustain myself financially or emotionally, I turned to yoga. I have been practicing yoga since 2012 but not consistently. I used to practice at least once a week at the gym and whenever I wasn’t travelling for work.
Now I practise yoga every day and it just happens to be the most fulfilling and exciting path to date.
I am trying to stop worrying about the future or constantly checking out my cell phone and social media. It is helping me to unplug and focus on what’s going on in my body and in my life right now.
My stress level has gone done and the jibber jabber of the monkey mind has quietened as well.
I have also noticed that by practicing continuously, my focus has shifted into a restful but aware state, hence recharging my mind and maintaining a state of inner calm. I can now focus on one thing at a time instead of multi-tasking and getting stressed for nothing. It’s not worth it.
I am also learning to cultivate an attitude of gratitude. I have so much to be grateful for at this point in time. Gratitude? It might be the last thing that comes to mind when referring to the COVID 19 pandemic.
After all, this virus has taken away many jobs and lives, and everyone is feeling the stress of this global event to some degree.Yes things are falling apart ….business is slow and I am heavily impacted but I have not faced some of the challenges that others have endured during the pandemic. I could see more learning opportunities and possibilities in situations and people. Reaching out to others is becoming an easier, more natural thing to do. It doesn’t matter what they might think of me or if they don’t respond.
My challenge is to become more grounded. And every day, it becomes easier. When I start to feel overwhelm, a few deep breaths and a reminder to be grateful for being alive and healthy is all it takes to reset my head and heart.
Hold yourself together and keep going. This too shall pass!!
