Do You Work with an Energy Vampire?

Is there someone at work who sucks the life out of you? Do you feel fine before you run into this person, but exhausted by the time you walk away?

Energy vampires may — intentionally, but more often unconsciously — create trauma and drama. They may feel frantic or frenzied, which can get you all stirred up, too. Or they may provoke anger, frustration or fear in you.

An encounter with an energy vampire might even feel positive. They might get you all enthusiastic and amped up about something.

The common denominator is how you feel afterward. If you feel like you’ve lost a lot of energy, you’ve been around an energy vampire.

Why Do They Do It?

All of us are connected to an endless source of life force energy. The Chinese call this chi. The Sanskrit word for it — commonly used in yoga circles — is prana, which means both breath and life force.

Unfortunately, energy vampires don’t know how to tap into this limitless energy. Instead, they learned — usually from a parent — to get energy by “stealing” it from other people.

Most energy vampires have no idea they’re doing this, though some are more aware and manipulative.

What Can You Do About It?

Energy vampires literally get their hooks into you, and they can continue siphoning energy from you even when you’re not physically together.

That’s why, whenever one of my clients is dealing with an energy vampire, the Angels and I start by cutting the “energetic cords” connecting them to that person.

The Angels will continue to feed energy to the person, so he or she won’t even know that you’re no longer connected. I ask the Angels to do this very purposefully, because the first time I ever cut the energetic cords like this, those cords were connecting me to my father (an unconscious energy vampire). Once we cut the energetic cords, my father literally wound up in the hospital with a staph infection and almost died — that’s how much energy he had been siphoning from me.

So, now, I ask the Angels to continue feeding energy to the vampire so they get their energetic fix, just without it having to come from you.

You can do this yourself. Simply ask the Angels to cut the cords for you and continue feeding energy directly to that person.

Once you’ve cut the cords, you almost certainly will feel lighter. And you’ll notice that you have more energy, too.

Future Encounters with This Person

Whenever you have to be around an energy vampire, remind yourself ahead of time that they’re going to try to extract energy from you, and ask the Angels to supply them with energy before you get together.

You also can do this in the moment, if you happen to run into an energy vampire.

Also, while you’re with this person, gently notice when they’re trying to get a rise out of you. Once you’re not so affected energetically, it will be much easier to see what’s happening, and you may find it fascinating, or even amusing.

Most of all, the Angels are asking us to have compassion for these people, who don’t realize they can connect to an unlimited source of energy and power any time.

It’s not our job to tell them this — or to teach them how to access this unlimited source of energy — until they ask us.

In the meantime, we have a wonderful opportunity to lead by example: We can serve as a role model, wordlessly demonstrating a much different way of being at work.
