Okay, hear me out. We see?TRAVARAS?as a travel tech company, I am not preaching to go back to the good old days of phone calls, and while I see my mom struggling with her small-town bank going completely online, I am not saying this to be against progress. I love technology. In the right places.
The problem with most of these AI travel guides/itinerary options sprouting up like mushrooms is that the data isn’t new. It aggregates from what’s out there, and what’s out there is what got us here, to a place where travelers are not welcome in a lot of places. Where locals are pushing back. Destinations are destroyed. And where the discerning traveler, like yourself, is bored by the options out there. What we want is new, is different, is a way of travel that starts with respect and preserves the destinations we visit, and leads to immersive and unforgettable experiences, off the beaten path.
Sure, AI can support us on this journey, but for now, we need human empathy and curiosity to forge this new path. Wouldn’t you agree?
We are here to revolutionize the way we travel, which requires a lot of nuance, and a lot of listening. Diligent vetting of each and every local business we work with, and care for how we can improve, how we can learn, how we can make your trips better, the traveler, our suppliers, and the local communities impacted by tourism.
We might not always get it right. But we are vulnerable enough to admit when we don’t and open to learning and improving. So far, we are getting amazing feedback! All suppliers we connect with are excited to hear about our vision for travel and our values that define everything we do, and our early adopters who went on their first trips have all been raving about the experience they had in destination. And the connection they felt.
Don’t get me wrong though, AI isn’t the problem, data is. The only way for an AI-generated itinerary to give you new options would be to use private data and a lot of upfront learning. Otherwise, you will end up at the same spots everyone else already took selfies at on their trip.
