Do you want to survive after Corona?
Here are the four most significant points to consider.
It is undisputed that the world has changed since Corona, in private life and business life. Now it is essential to sharpen our empathic sensors and to know and feel our fellow human beings precisely. Do we want to survive in business as well as in private life?
I admit that I am expressing myself dramatically. But only those who listen to fellow human beings will survive financially and personally.
Empathy teaches us how to sense what others think and feel. You can do this with individuals, groups, or even entire markets. But first, let's take a look at the general social environment. What is motivating people today?
An empathetic look at our surroundings
Bielefeld University in Germany has just published a study where they surveyed people about current impressions and feelings. We will be able to draw some conclusions from this. Let's take a look.
What is our source of information?
The majority of respondents in the study (62%) say they inform themselves from television and radio, followed by print media, where 44% read mostly online. Surprisingly 38% receive their news via social media. Therefore, most of the people we encounter think that social media is a legitimate source of information.
What worries us?
Only 4% of people are concerned about themselves. Thirty-six percent of respondents are worried about Coronavirus risk groups. A whopping 81% are fearful of Humankind's future. People want to regain a sense of security in their world. Can you offer that as an entrepreneur or service provider? Here is your challenge.
Are we responsible?
Most people feel responsible for the health and welfare of themselves and close family (62%), followed by risk groups (54%) and then people within their close circle (44%). As a service provider, ask yourself what you can offer to support these needs. Do you have solutions that meet these requirements?
Everyone wants to help, but few expect help!
Interestingly, 70% of the people surveyed would be willing to help someone else if asked for support. But only 37% expect to be supported. This gap is where you can start your services. Show your willingness to be sympathetic! Show that you are seriously interested in offering something that helps everyone. People are willing to pay for this.
The four most valuable insights for your business during and after Corona
In summary, with enough Empathy, you can help businesses recover from the pandemic. In the beginning, focus on the following four points:
- Offer your services and products through reputable sources. Ensure a high level of transparency.
- Focus on services and products that offer security. Emphasize the value and benefit of the individual. How does your offer increase the customer's security? How would I feel as a customer when I use this service?
- People want to be active. Does your product or service allow people to take direct responsibility for their security? Will it enable them to show others that they have taken responsibility?
- Show your customers that you are there for them. Make them feel understood. Respond to their problems. Be creative when putting your products together. Ideally, your product or service will allow your customer to be supportive of others. If the customer feels understood and supported, that is the premier class of Empathy.
