After two years of isolation, New Zealand is slowly starting to open its doors. This is great news for all the people who want to come to New Zealand to work, to study or to have a working holiday experience. Let’s see what visas have become available again, from when, and, most importantly, how to get one.

Working holiday visas

The working holiday scheme will reopen in stages. Visas become available from March 13, 2022. However, the date visas become available depends on the country. For example: visas for? Argentina become available on 30 August, for Mexico, on 22 March, for Chile, on 6 September, and for Brazil, on 18 August. You can find the dates that visas will reopen in your country here.?

What happens with those people who had a working holiday visa and were ready to come to New Zealand, but couldn’t because of the border restrictions? They will be granted a new visa on 13 March, and they will need to travel to New Zealand within the next six months (before 13 September 2022).

Work and student visas

Temporary work and student visa holders currently outside New Zealand can enter the country from 12 April, 2022, as long as they still meet their visa requirements.

To get a job offer, my advice is that you have a plan—a job search plan:?

1. Do research: go to job search portals and see what is available. What skills are in demand? Do you have those skills?
2. Make a list of the companies you would like to work for.
3. Network: connect with people who work for those companies and talk to them.
